Hey cats,
It’s been a MINUTE since I’ve posted here! Did you miss Cheese Cat? There are quite a few updates, and I’m STOKED to show them to you, but I think the website does a better job of that than my words can. Take a look around. Enjoy.
Behind the scenes, I’ve been building something I believe is very special, and it’s an embodiment of what Cheese Cat was always meant to be: an agency. I’ve always craved having my own studio where I can work directly with clients to bring their dreams to life, but Cheese Cat in its past form couldn’t really portray that how I envisioned. So, what did I do? I went back to the drawing board.
A few months ago, I showed off our new logo, which I have kept. It is a mark I am very proud of for its simplistic but oozing personality. But the rest of the website hadn’t followed suit yet. But now, after all this time, I present Cheese Cat (again)! I’m a firm believer in rebranding whenever you feel you’ve strayed too far from your original scope.
Where we came from.
You see, Cheese Cat was supposed to be a game studio first. Me and my buddy decided we wanted to create video games, and we began under the working title of “ok studios”. Awful name, I know. What can I say, we thought it was funny… Looking back, I don’t regret that journey with my buddy, but we gradually got busier and busier until he had to depart from the team (love you, Fin) and I was left alone on a journey meant for two.
I let everything quietly die for about two years, and I almost forgot about it, but then one day, I decided I wanted to go back in again. For a while, I was applying at design agencies for Junior Designer roles, and NOBODY wanted to hire me. I originally thought it was because the world was cruel (curse you AI), but then guess what? I realized it WASN’T because of that. It was simply because I wasn’t professional-level.
So I got to work.
I created Cheese Cat from the ground up. Set up trademarks and copyrights. Designed my website. Created my branding (although at first it was just a logo and two colors). And I cobbled it all together to create something that I thought was stunning. Eventually, I came to the understanding that if I wanted to make this a full-time gig, I had to work a lot harder. Cheese Cat felt disorganized, boring, almost completely separated from the industry I was trying to dive into.
Where we are now.
So here we are, ANOTHER two years later. Two years after creating Cheese Cat, I have finally found my style. I let myself break the rules so that my clients didn’t have to play it safe. I have established my voice, developed proper brand standards and guidelines, and learned how to have fun again. This is the result.
Cheese Cat can once again be a design agency built on excitement, creativity, enjoyment, and a whole lotta imagination. And that’s all thanks to realizing my scope shifted. If you’re just a regular ol’ chap like me, welcome to the website. I’ve been building this blog for a while to create a not-so-paper trail of what I’ve been working on creatively for a few years. If you’re a potential client and you want to build something extraordinary together, reach out to me here.
Where we are going next.
So, where will the wind take us? Who knows! But wherever we end up, you can bet we’ll be making something extraordinary along the way, and we’ll be having a lotta fun doing it. For the first time in a long time, things make sense again.
