Creating a Brand

Written by Drake • 15 March 2026

Hey cool cats,

Have you ever wanted to create a brand or a product, but you’ve never known where to start? Or are you just a curious cat who’s always wondered what goes into creating a product that stuns and attracts?

Today’s post is all about one of my brands I’m working to get off the floor - Uncle Udders. Uncle Udders is all about sustainability while enjoying natural, pasteurized milk for all ages! So how do we do that? Canned milk. And no, I’m not talking about condensed milk. Just good ol’ fashioned two percent!

So what goes into it? Let’s take a very brief (and not very detailed) dive into how to design a brand.

Start With an Idea

An idea is powerful. It can tell a story, sell a product, and build a brand.

This is a very brief look into how I took a simple idea and turned it into a well-designed can that entices people from across the super market.

Setting up a Mockup

Once you’ve worked through your project brief and start creating different iterations, you can add them to mockups to bring your imagination to life!

Designing Deeper

Remember to keep your intended collaterals in mind, such as more packaging, stickers, business cards, a website, and much more. In this case, I really focused on the cardboard packaging you’d buy the cans from, as they’re a big part of the emphasis on sustainability.
